The hippocampus is located in theallocortex, with neural projections into theneocortexin humans,[1][2][3]as well as primates.[4]The hippocampus, as themedial pallium, is a structure found in allvertebrates.[5]In humans, it contains two main interlocking parts: thehippocampus proper(also calledAmmon's horn), and thedentate gyrus.[6][7]"
